Glue (No.16)

A fast-drying, clear-setting strong leather glue for all your leather repair needs. This Australian made and owned leather and vinyl adhesive is great for creating a strong, flexible bond.

  • Dries clear
  • Flexible and strong
  • Water-based
  • Air drying and can be force dried with care using a hair dryer, gentle sunshine or a room heater
  • Can be sanded
  • Is not a PVA.

Bond it back together

Ideal for repairing nicks and scratches, bonding loose tags of leather, cuts, tears and pet damage on furniture. Re-fix loose straps, edges, and linings on handbags, wallets, and steering wheels.

Easy to use

After cleaning and preparing the surface, apply to both sides of the opening. Allow the glue to become semi-dry and tacky to touch. On large gluing jobs, a second layer of glue can be applied at this point for extra holding power. This step isn't needed on small jobs like cat scratches, for example. Bring the surfaces together and hold them in place using firms, steady pressure until dry. Wipe away any excess glue from the surface. A hairdryer can be used to speed drying.

Finishing over glued areas

Glue (No.16) can be used alone or in conjunction with other repairing products and processes. For example:

  • For large tears, stitch the opening closed then use a small brush to apply glue around and under the stitching to give the repair extra strength
  • Glue down loose tags then use leather filler to fill any remaining pits and troughs
  • Colour over leather glue and filler with leather primer, paint and topcoat

Available in repair and recolour kits

You'll love the transformations you can achieve with this industry best leather repair product. Also available in value bundles in Repair & Recolour Kits.

Looks like a PVA but it's not a PVA

Glue (No.16) is white and dries clear. It is not a PVA.  It is a VAE emulsion based product with added chemicals that give it special properties that meet the needs of leather repair such as flexibility, softness, robust adhesion and other features. It may look/feel the same as PVA but it has different chemical characteristics that give it performance advantages over PVAs.

All types

Use as needed.

Cut a patch that is 1.5 to 2 times the size of the opening in the leather. Insert it under the opening. The patch can be anchored in two ways:

1) Glued: Apply glue to the edges of the underside of the hole. Wait until the glue is almost dry then add an additional layer. Wait a few minutes for the glue to become tacky. Join and firmly hold the parts in place until bonded. Depending on the amount of glue used, humidity and porousity of your leather, this may be minutes or a couple of days. Wipe away excess immediately.

2) Stitched: Insert the sub-patch then stitch through the edges of the leather opening and through the mesh.

Glue can be applied after stitching.

Always clean leather and vinyl before gluing. Wash up in water. Keep airtight.
